Route 66 › Kansas
Short but mighty — 13 miles, 3 towns, and the inspiration for Pixar’s Cars
Short but Mighty. Kansas has the shortest Route 66 stretch of any state — just 13 miles through three small towns. But don’t you dare skip it. Galena’s rust-belt charm and Pixar-famous truck, Riverton’s century-old general store, the last Marsh Arch Bridge on the entire route, and Baxter Springs’ Wild West history make this one of the most rewarding short stretches on the whole Mother Road. Budget at least two hours. Visit kansasroute66.org for local events and updates.
